I was in Miami Florida when I was arrested. I don’t reside in Florida and was on vacation at the time of the incident. right after i was released I hired Solis and his associates to take on my case with compete trust as he assured me that he would get the charges dropped before or by my court date .. not only did he not get them dropped, the charges were upgraded!! He did not seem in the least to care and only wanted to talk when I was making a payment. He had me fly all the way back to Miami for a court date that was “mandatory “ only to find out after I landed that he didn’t need me to attend ?? I never even made it from the airport which was stupid and expensive seeing as I didn’t have to appear in court like he told me over the phone that I did . And guess what he asked of me then ?? More money! He literally didn’t do anything he said he would yet he kept asking for more and more money ... in our last conversations before he was fired he told me my case could last up to 5 years !! But that he needed 10,000 in six months. Needless to say I went with other council ... but not without first wasting thousands of dollars with him for nothing

Unfortunately this isn't my first time dealing with the criminal justice system. However I had never been in trouble in Florida and was arrested for DUI and Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. I don't sell drugs and actually thought this was a mistake but I did have a rather large amount on me (for personal use). I was completely lost as I mentioned I had never been in trouble in Florida before and felt like I was in another country.
Among other things I have been charged with first degree murder in my former state but you are not just placed in jail as I was here nor is there a concept of a bail bondsman. All happens before a judge (in Massachusetts). So here they just take me to a big jail (TGK) within a couple of hours of arrest and I'm handed a list of bondsman. Well I made it out and immediately (never even seeing a judge) called a few lawyers. I was told that I was facing 15 years for the possession charge.
To make matters worse, I had to see the bondsman the next day just to check in and they already had a lawyer waiting for me. The lawyers came out like sharks in a frenzy only to confuse me more.
Long story short I did my research and came across Helmuth Solis. He wasn't as cheap as the others but he was worth every single penny. He immediately set out a game plan and even knew who the DUI cop was which surprised me as big a city as Miami-Dade is. He was definitely in his element. I suppose he specializes in Miami only for a reason.
First he (and his associates but I only dealt with Helmuth) got my license returned at the administrative hearing as they found a flaw in the paperwork the state submitted. He then got the possession with intent to distribute dismissed even before arraignment. Mind you I never even had to go to any hearing or court for any of this.
This left the DUI. The State was intent on pursing this.
As I said Mr. Solis was definitely in his element and every time we were ready for trial I would show up and he would request something or do something that routinely had the State request a continuation. To be honest I was a little frustrated as I didn't understand why this wasn't done prior to the hearing but this is actually how the system is in Miami-Dade.
Throughout all of this Helmuth was in constant contact with me and kept me updated throughout the whole thing. If I contacted him (and I contacted him directly not through his office) he always got right back to me.
This is another thing that really impressed me about Helmuth. As smart and qualified as he is, he never spoke to me in a condescending manner; he spoke to me not at me. If I had questions (and I had a lot) he always addressed them. I even said to him " you seem like a regular guy". He just laughed and said he was.
In the end, I don't want to into exactly what he did, but basically was going to pull a nuclear move and subpoena a city commissioner to clarify what the State and Court didn't seemingly understand. Many attorneys I don't think would have dared do that but he was working for his client (me) and apparently not worried about making concessions at my cost (always a worry when hiring an attorney). Helmuth Solis is definitely out for his client. The DUI was dropped to a reckless with adjudication withheld (so no effect on my license).
Again I've had charges even as high as murder in the first degree and always had the cream of the crop attorneys but Helmuth Solis was by far the best lawyer I've ever had.
Hopefully I'll never need a lawyer again but I would without a doubt hire Helmuth should I need one!!
