Attorney Mary Elizabeth Perez is fluent in English and Spanish, and works with a diverse population to include Greece, Canada, Japan, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Italy, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and numerous other countries. She has excelled in representing clients in removal proceeding, and focuses the bulk of her practice on representing clients in front of the United State Citizenship and Immigration Services and the U.S. Immigration Courts. She has assisted clients in obtaining family – based and employment and employment based visas and in obtaining relief in deportation proceedings.
Attorney Perez ensures that clients receive individualized attention. Unlike a large firm, where clients may interact primarily with paralegals or non-lawyer office staff, Attorney perez interacts directly 100% of the time with clients. She is accessible to clients, and returns all communication within twenty four (24) hours.
Attorney Perez graduated cum laude from California Western School of Law, where she was a member of Law Review. During law school, she was also a distinguished Peggy Browning fellow, and field research with undocumented migrant farmworkers in vermont. She also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Gilbert Nares at the Califoenia Court of Appeal
After law school, Attorney Perez worked in criminal law and acquired substantial trial experience that enhances her current practice. Attorney Perez has litigated six criminal jury trial, and has earned acquittals for her clients in five of those trial. Although her practice is now focused on immigration law, her jury trial experience distinguishes her from her peers in that she has a keen understanding of the criminal process and its impacts on immigration status.
Prior to law school, Attorney Perez worked as an educator in Chula Vista, CA, where she interacted extensively with the Latino community and developed sensitivity and empathy for their unique needs. That experiences also sets her apart from her peers in the immigration legal community, as she understands the dynamics the dynamics of family- based immigration from a first-hand perspective
