consturction

It has come to my attention that my contractor is behind in payments for work done on my remodeling job. I owe him one more final payment when the job is completed (within the next 1-2 weeks). Can the subcontractor put a lein on my house for non-payment? My contract is with the contractor, not the sub-contractor. Can I withhold payment to the contractor until he shows me proof of payment for all subs? HELP!

Re: consturction

You should employ an attorney to review your contract and/or other documents that govern your contractor's conduct because that information will determine how to proceed.
