contractor question

part I

i am a contractor and my client changed the scope of work which is greater than the original invoice; my client demands that i continue working without approving the written ''change order'' i gave him.

part II

my client then threatens tp kick me off the project if do not agree to do the extra work. To date he has paid $15,000 and i have completed $13,000 to this point. what do i do?

Re: contractor question

Behave like a professional and require any changes be documented with Change Orders and agreement to the cost increase detailed on the CO. If he refuses, follow the terms of the contract you are supposed to have, i.e. no changes without approval. If he kicks you off now, with you ahead of the game in payments, feel relieved. Feel free to contact me for legal help if this escalates into needing an attorney to negotiate your way out of this, or to defend a lawsuit.
