contract

have a contract for repairs to my house. the work was subcontracted out. contractor did not pay the subcontractor and he placed a lien on my house. if I pay the subcontractor can I get out of the contract with the contractor leagelly

It is at least an implied part of any agreement with your contractor that it will pay any subcontractors or suppliers out of the money that you paid. However, if you have NOT paid your contractor (or there is a dispute as to the amount of payment), the situation may be more complicated. You should probably consult an attorney as to your course of action in this instance.
