dating age

my son is 18 dating a 15 year old girl who's parents have strickly forbiden this. They are now sneaking around behind the parents back. I have tried to talk to my son and to let him know that it's wrong to do so. Can you please tell me what kind of trouble my son could be in if the parents found out again. They have told him on one occasion that if he went any where near her they would put a restraining order on him(this was after i made them tell the parents they were seeing each other and she got grounded.) Thank you

Re: dating age

You asked about an 18 year old dating a 15 year old.

First off see the answers to this exact same question that has been answered ad nauseum.

Generally a person over 18 may only have a consensual relationship with someone under 18 if there is less than two years difference in ages. In other words,he may continue to see her, but the law is strict that he may not have any consensual contact with her until she is 18. Seriously. Even consensual contact will mean he may be prosecuted for statutory rape. And yes, that may mean sex offender status for the rest of his life. There was a recent case in Georgia where the boy spent years in prison for the exact same situation.

If they can control themselves then there is nothing that can be done. A restraining order is unlikely to be issued, but any contact could result in prison.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Roger
