did my mother break any laws
I recently discovered my mother accessing my personal e mail account thereby tampering and in some cases removing personal e mail files with out my prior ok or knowledge. what is even more upsetting is she has erased e mail files sent by my father whome ive been looking for for close to eighteen years. this has caused me to want to understand my personal rights pertaining to this situation, and here neglegent handling of such an important and fragile situation and what could be the consequences of her actions
Re: did my mother break any laws
She may have broken some laws, but are you really going to pursue a lawsuit or criminal prosecution against your mother?
Best thing I can suggest is that you take a lesson from this, and change your passwords, etc., so she can't access your private stuff.
(This assumes you're over 18 years old). If you're a minor, your mother has a legal right to monitor your communications, and keep you from accessing material she deems inappropriate for you. In fact, some might argue that a parent has an affirmative DUTY to do such things.
