(California) I can't afford a DUI attorney, when i get to my court date what should i do, this is my first offense -- 33 + yrs driving, no tickets, or trouble w the law. Been told to start AA classes, what about DUI Program. Requested DMV hearing (a week late -- from ten day period.

Go to court and plead not guilty. Then request that the public defender be appointed.
