faulty new home construction

my home was completed in may of 2006 - advised the builder the roof around the fireplace was leaking before sheet rock was put on the walls. now in my house i have water stains by the fireplace on the ceilings and walls, paint is peeling off the walls and the joints are coming apart. other homes built by the builder have similar problems. should we file a class action suit or file individual. please advise of what to do and if you would please recommend a lawyer it would be appreciated.
