Georgia Automobile Tire Laws?????

I recently went to Wal-mart and request to get 2 new tires for my 96 Nissan. I wanted the rear passenger which had just blew out with me @ 65mph and the front driver had a nail in it. I told the guy 3 times I wanted to ''New'' tires on the front of the automobile because it is front wheel drive. After sitting for almost 2 hrs. I find out they didn't put the new tires on the front of the auto, Stating some bs about a new law by the state all new tires go on the back of all autos. I told them they were crazy and I said the state is NOT paying for these tires I am, I argued with them but they refused to correct. Not only did not put new tires where I wanted them, the didn't even replace or bother to fix the tire with the nail in it. I am fuming. I want to know if such a law exsist and if so why?

Re: Georgia Automobile Tire Laws?????

Regardless of any laws, it is much safer to have new tires on the back and many installers have a policy of only installing new tires on the back. That probably should have been the explanation you received, but it was for your benefit and safety. Reporting it to anyone won't change the practice, or force anyone to do it differently. If you want to drive an unsafe vehicle, and face the potential consequences, you can change them yourself or find someone who does not know better to do it.
