heir

Got paperwork from great aunts estate stating I am an heir. The PR on this said where my father died that his share was to go to my sister and I. There are seven of us in this will. I called the trustee at the bank and she will not give any information to me because I am not a beneficiary. My Aunts are. I am at a loss because why would I receive paperwork stating I am an heir? What does that entitle me to in the trust.? Am I receiving anything. She made it sound like I was getting nothing.Thank you

Re: heir

You may be an heir to the deceased for probate purposes, but trust assets pass outside of Probate, so you may be entitled to estate assets as an heir, but if you are not a beneificiary fo the trust you are not entitled to trust assets. The trust and the probate estate can be separate.
