If an average non-law enforcement Pennsylvania civilian can ask to see a law abiding citizen's government issued gun permit in a diner , gas station , grocery store , etc..... what is stopping them for asking for driver's licenses , social security cards, passports etc.....?
Most people when surprisingly asked to produce such materials would assume it is a law enforcement official.
Isn't that bordering on impersonating a public servant or even harassment?
I guess the no wasn't enough. How about I ask you to show my tomorrow night's winning Powerball numbers.. I can ask but I'm not going to get them.
The only time you have to show your permit is if you are carrying a weapon. If you aren't then whether you have a permit or not doesn't matter. The only other time law enforcement can ask for your permit is when your weapon has been used in a crime.
What stops people from asking? They don't get what they asked for.
Just say no.
