I have had to take care of my mom for the past 2 years after she was left blind from 2 stokes. I can not work away from home. I have been trying to come up with a solution that would help others in this situation. I have a plan but I am not sure of the legality. I want to have a fund-raiser online with cash prizes as an incentive. Is that legal? Is it legal to have a fund-raiser when you are not a non-profit? I would want to go there but need funds first.
Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated!!

What you are proposing is likely to be illegal. If you charge people money to participate, t is either an illegal gambling operation, or it is illegal sale of securities.
