Maternity Leave Law

My employer said that i have to be back in 12 weeks for maternity leave. I was put on bed rest early due to complications w/ the pregnancy i just delivered on the 31st of July. That means i only had two weeks off after my baby was born before my employer would terminate me. Is this legal?

Re: Maternity Leave Law

Yes it is legal. If you took maternity leave under the FMLA, the employer is required to provide only 12 weeks of leave per 12-month period. If you do not return within 12 weeks, you will no longer have job protection under the FMLA.
