non-payment for contract work

I did two contract assignments for a company. Each assignment consisted of me taking photos of many properties. I was told I would recieve anywhere from $3.50 to $10.00 a property. I have not received payment for either assignment. I believe I am going to have to take them to small claims court. How do I choose a dollar amount for the assignments and are there other damages I can sue for?

Re: non-payment for contract work

If you had a contract, you sue for what was owed under the contract. If they just promised you something in the range, you may have proof problems in establishing a valid contract -- in which case -- you sue for the fair value of the work you did accomplish at their request.
