Parental rights to visit school
I have a child in high school and I would like to check up on him but my employer refuses to allow me the time off. Is there any law that states, I have the legal right to take an hour or two per month to handle my childs school problems. I feel that I'm missing out on some of his school meetings and events.

Hello!
First, I believe that you are thinking about he so-called Family Leave Act which allows a parent/grandparent to care for a newborn or allows any adult to care for an ailing family member, substantially regardless of cause.
The FMLA is not all inclusive...only employers of certain size determined by the number of employees are subject to being compelled to agree.
In your specific situation, the FMLA is NOT applicable. You will have to take sick days, personal or other forms of comp time if available to you.
