self representation

I intend to represent myself at a trial involving the Colorado Div. of Wildlife (DOW) concerning a hunting violation. I need to know how I file for discovery, if I can request or demand past similar cases, cases involving the charging officer, areas of prejudice. How can I get the judge to appoint a public defender or is this a good move?

Re: self representation

Public defenders are available only where there is a possibility of a jail sentence. So unless you were hunting human beings, or even government officials, you can't get a judge to appoint a public defender for you.

Discovery doesn't involve turning over information about precedent cases or about prior cases the charging officer worked. You have to do your own research. Unless you are unusually sophisticated about administrative agencies and legal procedures, it would probably be smarter for you to hire an attorney.
