Teacher

A teacher needs a daily medical treatment from a doctor in the early hours so he can function at work. The teacher has requested a transfer to the middle school which starts later, in order to go to his appointment. The district refuses the transfer stating that they do not need an AP math teacher. The district suggests medical leave or resign. What is the rights of the the teacher?

Re: Teacher

I certainly can understand your problem. You certainly do not want to quit your job as a teacher, because you will never get another one.

I would have to look at your contract with the school, if any, whether or not you are tenured, whether or not you can bump someone from their position, which can only be ascertained by (1) your union contact (2) personal contracts (3) and knowing exactly what your medical problem is.
