TV ad character- copyright question

I am developing the design of a toy

using the images of the ''i'm a mac''

and ''i'm a pc'' guys in Apple's tv ads.

The images would not be photos but

artist renderings (sculpture). !. Do I

need to negotiate a license? 2. If so

, with who? Apple or the Ad Agency

who created the ad? 3. Could my

product be considered parody or

satire?

Re: TV ad character- copyright question

Have an attorney look over what you're doing. You'd probably do better to license the characters from whichever party holds those rights (can't tell from what you've given us).

It's probably NOT parody or satire, since you're not specifically criticizing or commenting on the original.
