I am on H1b laid off recently with severance pay for 19 weeks (until Aug 2020),
1 - I would like to know when does my grace period of 60 days starts? After the last of employment or after severance?
2 - Due to Covid-19 pandemic situations prevailing worldwide and limited travel allowed/lockdown, can I get 60 days waiver or extension of days of grace period from USCIS? if no, what are the options available?
Generally, H1B grace period of 60 days within I-94 validity starts upon cessation of employment. The last check is evidence of status. A H1B change of employer petition may be filed within I-94 validity.
