A surviving spouse can Elect Against the Will and receive a large part of the Estate. But If you start gifting property now through Deeds, Trusts, etc., those properties will not be part of our Estate that goes through Probate, or even to your Heirs or Next Of Kin. Contact a competent attorney for a private consultation.
