My H1B 6yr limit expires on 9th April & I had plans to travel back to India by end of March with my husband (H4) & 4 month old son (US Citizen). Acc to recent travel restrictions imposed by India due to Coronavirus, all international flights to India are banned from 22nd Mar onwards, for 1 week. In case this travel ban gets extended, I will be out of status in US as my visa limit ends on Apr 9th. Is there any provision that I can get extension to stay in US and it won't impact my ongoing GC processing?
Consider filing for a change from H to B. If you depart the United States your process may continue and you can return as a permanent resident. There may be other possibilities consider contacting an immigration attorney.
File form I-539 to change from H to B-2.
Don't worry, you will have far too many individuals in the "same boat" as you. No such "provision" yet announced by USCIS or DHS. Should not impact your ongoing GC processing.
Normally CBP or USCIS have to issue "Satisfactory Departure" under such circumstances. Easiest to monitor and see when your local CBP Deferred Inspections office will resume receiving individuals again. CBP can issue you such stamp.
