Should I be concern if a contractor send me a preliminary lien notice. I terminated the primary contractor because he was doing a messy job and there was no communication in his part of what changes he was doing. There was a fire at my house , nothing major. The insurance paid the mortgage $19200 and the lien amount is for $22300. they didn't finish the repairs and I had to redo the mess they left. I replied to the company by asking for an invoice of the work they did so I can pay them, and have not received any response . Should I be concern and start hiring a lawyer. I don't want to have a mechanic lien on my house . The subcontractor who did the insulation did contact me for payment an told him about the lien , which he didn't know about. He ended calling the 1ry contractor and said that the 1ry contractor had said to him to bill me separate because I didn't want to pay them. Which is not true. I requested an invoice from the construction company and haven't received it. I send the company pictures of the messy work they did and emails that I was never responded to. I also never received an affidavit in their part of the work they were to do i order for me to base what they were doing. Any advice?
