Understanding that there are a few different types of powers of attorney but not sure which one a dear friend that i have been looking out for has signed and now is at loss on how to revoke and or stop it. (A copy was not left with him) Could you please tell me if there is a "universal" way in which to ?

All powers of attorney can be revoked by the person granting the power clearly stating that they now withdraw it. If there is any question as to whether they might be mentally incapacitated it would be best to have a physician say they are not. It might be best to also state they do not remember what type of POA they gave but whatever its nature they are withdrawing it.
