I own a .com cosmetics website where users leave their personal information including age range, skin tone and skin concerns (acne, eczema etc) and they have an option to show or hide this information on their public profile. Giving them an option to hide this information is enough not to violate their privacy or do I have to do something else?
Also in case a user from Europe, where data collection and protection is more strict than US, registers on my website how do I ensure I follow European private data regulations?
So, for me, IF I were thinking about this I'd do two things:
1- I'd "google it" as that info is "out there" almost assuredly;
2- I'd HIRE an attorney to handle, as it should be no more than an hour or two of work
and if the attorney messed up, you have a lawsuit against him/her to cover the mistake(s)
What I would not do is trust any (maybe even mine?) "free" advice on a legal forum.
Good luck with it!
Reckless Skateboarders in PUD Community
Our once quiet Huntington Beach PUD community has acquired two skateboarding aficinado families and the noise factor is deafening. In addition, the men and their kids have severely damaged the sidewalks and streets. They speed past motorists attempting to get in/out the gate and have little regard for pedestrians. I have notified the Property Manager that I'd like this to be addressed at the BOD meeting. We have spoke to parents and they were not receptive. Somehow, I don't think there is much we can do to curtail this activity. Is there any recourse?
immiration +marriage
My fiance and I have been together
for 2 and a half years. He is an illegal
immigrant from Brazil. During that
time he has been trying to get his
citizenship through his mother, who
is recently a legal US citizen.
Unfortunately various lawyers have
misfiles paperwork, taken advantage
of them, etc.
If he and I were to get married,
would he gain his US citizenship
immediately? I have heard from
some people that he would have to
return to Brazil for a whole year
before he would be allowed back in
the US, but at that time he would
have his citizenship.
Is this true? What EXACTLY would
happen if we got married now?
Injury Claim
In Feb of 2004, I was riding a horse belonging to a children's home to evaluate the horse for us in our program. The instructor from the home was there was well. The horse jumped sideways and I came off and broke my leg (both bones in my lower right leg). I was hospitalized for 5 days. It was a bad break requiring 14 screws and two plates. I haven't been able to ride much since the accident and the horse business is my livelihood. The boots got caught in the stirrup which was why it was broken. I was wondering if I had a case against the manufacturer of these boots? Thank you for your time! Marj.
