Currently employed by a US higher education system under H1-B. COVID19 has been affecting the livelihood worldwide but is now starting to affect the US significantly with multiple cities and states, in essence, shutting down. Would a H1-B holder in the US become eligible for the EB-3 for positions as first responders in EMS or as police officers in the field of law enforcement considering those positions have historically been areas in which there shortages and moving on into the future, will become even further scarce?
Yes, if you have the appropriate BS/BA/MS/MA diploma, the EMS/Police agencies might be able to offer you an H-1B.
I highly doubt city employers who hire peace officers or emergency personnel will look to go through the extensive and thorough process of hiring foreign nationals. Simply too costly compared to the alternative.
