I received an email stating that I was chosen for a donation from the Fondation De France, United Nations Organisation, The European Union, and Economic Community for West African States for the amount of $1,350,000.00 I was wondering about international scam laws and if I will have any legal recourses. They are asking that I send $420 to cover the the insurance of diplomatic documents. My family has just acquired land from an inheritancem, the land is over 200 acres on the island of Roatan. just formed a corporation here in New York which is totally different from real estate or real estate development, but I was thinking to use my business somehow to get a loan to help develop the property. Now my uncle is the head on the family so he is transfering the lands to his name. His logic is to sell some of the land to get money to develop and secure the rest. He is now talking to development companies to sell some of the property. I do not agree with this. Finally, my question is should go ahead and use my company to attain a loan to develop the land ourselves or should my sell some of the property to attain money for development.

Foreign Corporation doing business in USA

I have a tax question relating to a foreign (hong kong) company doing business in the usa. The HK company is engaged in the busines of building residential properties in TX. Under HK tax law, no taxes are payable on profits earned outside HK based on HK capital gains and territoriality laws. Hence gains on the sale and /or rental income can be realised tax free. I need to know however, if the HK Co. is subject to any form of tax here in the USA if they are not registered in the USA? Does the fact that their property holdings are located in TX, USA make them liable to the various USA tax authorities.

Does any one know of a case where it was determined that a judge can not adjudicate a case that he does not understand. In this case a federal judge has given a ruling on a treaty the judge clearly does not understand. The treaty is also a self executing treaty which the judge had no authority to interpret.

Abandonment of non- Us resident

I was recently threatened by someone from Australia, that was staying at my house that if I had him removed by police I would get in trouble by the Australian embassy for abandonment of his person. I did have him removed from my house by the police, for my families safety. I want to know if there is any truth to this statement. I don't need any surprises. Siezure of Assets Overseas: For Lawyer Familiar With South African-US Law

I am an American citizen marrying a South African citizen. It is very common in South Africa to sign something called an anti-nuptial contract (this is different to the American pre-nuptial). The idea behind it is protection of each spouse should one go bankrupt so that the other spouse's assets can not be siezed. My question is: we are getting married both in South African and the United States but if I sign the anti-nuptial contract in South Africa, how will anyone in South Africa possibly know what my assets are if they are not listed? Meaning, if I did not list any assets would there be any way for companies in South Africa to find out what my assets are that are held here in the States? I am trying to familiarize myself with this concept as we do not have anything comparable here and I do not want to sign anything without knowing exactly what the implications are for my assets here in the US.
