An "AV" rating indicates that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence, has usually practiced law for thirty-four years, and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity. In addition to his commercial litigation practice, he is a certified State and Federal Court Mediator) and a certified Arbitrator (American Arbitration Association, American Health Lawyers Association, ARIAS, CPR and FINRA). He also serves as a Special Master in the Broward County Circuit Court's Complex Litigation Unit.
In 2010, Mr. Waldman was appointed by Governor Charlie Crist as a Governing Board Member to the South Florida Water Management District (At Large Member for St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties) for the term March 2010 - March 2014. His appointment was confirmed by the Senate of the State of Florida on April 27, 2010. The South Florida Water Management District is a regional governmental agency that oversees the water resources in the southern half of the state, covering 16 counties from Orlando to the Florida Keys and serving a population of 7.5 million residents. It is the oldest and largest of the state's five water management districts. Created in 1949, the agency is responsible for managing and protecting water resources of South Florida by balancing and improving water quality, flood control, natural systems and water supply. A key initiative is the restoration of America's Everglades – the largest environmental restoration project in the nation's history. The District is also working to improve the Kissimmee River and its floodplain, Lake Okeechobee and South Florida's coastal estuaries.
Also in 2010, Mr. Waldman was recommended by The Florida Bar Board of Governors and, upon that recommendation, later appointed by Governor Charlie Crist to a four year term as a Member of the Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission. In 2013, Mr. Waldman was elected by his fellow Commissioners as the Chairman of the Commission.
Mr. Waldman also frequently serves as an expert witness in litigation, arbitration and administrative matters involving the award of reasonable attorneys' fees and disputes involving professional standards of care in the legal community.
