Joel focuses his practice in real property litigation, trial practice, local government law, business law, and personal injury. Joel also has a limited family law practice and handles some civil appeals.
Joel holds two degrees from the University of Florida, receiving his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the College of Law. Between his undergraduate and post-graduate degrees, Joel was the marketing director for one of North Florida's largest credit unions.
Joel is Town Counsel for the Town of Glen St. Mary, Florida. He serves as Special Magistrate for Code Enforcment for White Springs, Florida. Joel represents the Columbia County Sheriff's Office in civil asset forfeitures and represents the Columbia County Economic Development Advisory Board. He also handles matters for Columbia County when the elected county attorney declares conflict.
Joel served as Chair of the Third Judicial Circuit Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee from 2011-2012, and was appointed by the Governor in 2011 to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Third Judicial Circuit. He is chair of that Commission for 2013-14).
Joel served four years on the Board of Directors for the Lake City-Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, and served as President in 2013. Joel is former chair and member of The Ichetucknee Partnership, a coalition of advocates, local civic organizations and governmental entities committed to protecting the Ichetucknee River and springs.
Joel is a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law section of the Florida Bar, and the Third Judicial Circuit Bar Association.
