Matt Weissing is a native of Ft. Lauderdale and comes from a long legal heritage. His great uncles, Joseph Thomas (JT) Chancey and Christopher Chancey were two of Ft. Lauderdale’s earliest lawyers.
In 1954, Matt’s father, Louis Weissing moved to Ft. Lauderdale from Tampa. First serving in the State Attorney’s Office, Louis Weissing ran and was elected Judge in 1956. Matt grew up in a home where he constantly heard discussions about the legal issues his father decided. His father served first in the Court of Record and then as a Circuit Court Judge, and finally as the Chief Judge of the Sevententh Judicial Circuit culminating his 31 year Judicial career. Matt enjoys a deep heritage in the law. Because of his deep legal roots, Matt is dedicated to serving his client’s needs and pursuing justice for those who entrust their legal matters to his care.
Following his service in the United States Marine Corps where he was awarded four Meritorious Promotions and a Meritorious Mast, Matt completed his education at the University of Florida in only two years and nine months and then he attended Nova University Law School.
Matt’s legal practice has focused on Personal Injury and Wrongful Death matters. Specifically, his practice concentrates in seeking compensation for clients from Motor Vehicle Accidents, Construction Site and Premises Accidents, Dog Bites/Injuries by Animals and Boating/Cruise Accidents. Mr. Weissing's experience includes handling cases involving motorcycle, automobile, boating and helicopter crashes. He also handles cases involving toxic chemical exposure and mis-filled prescriptions, as well as failure to provide security and excessive force/false arrest. Matt has appeared and argued before the Fourth District Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit , and the Florida Supreme Court.
