Omer is originally from the Republic of Turkey. His family immigrated to the United States in 1995 and located to Paterson, New Jersey. Omer’s family, following the America Dream, eventually relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, while he was in high school. Northeast Florida was suitable for his family due to the low cost of living and endless potential to grow. Omer who now calls North Florida his home still to this day believes Jacksonville is the perfect city for a family immigrating to America. His family worked hard and opened a successful restaurant. Omer developed his strong work ethic working full time at the family business while attending school full time. He graduated from Paxon School for Advanced Studies with his high school diploma. He went on to attend Florida Community College at Jacksonville (now Florida State College) to acquire his Associate of Arts Degree. He continued his education and earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida in History.
Due to his background as an immigrant to the United States, Omer developed a desire to help those with immigration issues. He already knew that he wanted to become an immigration attorney in high school. Upon graduating from the University of Florida, Omer continued to pursue his dreams and attended Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville. He received several awards during law school, including Dean’s Scholar and Dean’s List. Florida Coastal was the perfect location for Omer to be exposed to immigration law because of the school’s in-house clinics and externship programs. He was a student clinician at the school’s Immigrant Rights Clinic for two semesters. He was a legal extern at the Baker Defense Project of Jacksonville Area Legal Aid. Omer was also involved in the community and was the president of Florida Coastal’s student organization Volunteer Immigrant Student Alliance. Omer graduated with his Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law along with a certificate in International and Comparative Law and the Pro Bono Honors Award.Upon passing the Florida Bar Exam, Omer wasted no time in pursuing his passion of immigration law. Omer’s passion for immigration Law stems from his roots as an immigrant. He is not just out there for the immigrant community, but he hails from the immigrant community. Omer currently lives in Neptune Beach with his girlfriend along with their poodle and two budgies. He enjoys spending the weekends bike riding around the beach and spending time with the most important thing in the world for him, family and friends. His hobbies include travelling, history, and classic cars. |
