Peter (“Pete”) J. Sweeney, Jr. is a native of Florida's Treasure Coast. He was born and raised in St. Lucie County. Following graduation from Lincoln Park Academy in Fort Pierce, Florida, he attended Florida State University on a full academic scholarship where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management with high honors in 2001. He then earned his Law Degree (J.D.), with honors, in 2004 from the Florida State University College of Law. While attending law school, Mr. Sweeney was an active member of the prestigious Florida State University Law Review and an award-winning member of the FSU College of Law Moot Court Team, attending several national competitions in New York and Washington, D.C. He was also selected for induction into the prestigious Order of Barristers, an organization which provides national recognition for individuals who have excelled in advocacy and service at their law school.
Following law school, Mr. Sweeney worked with Vocelle & Berg, LLP in Vero Beach, Florida. While working there, Mr. Sweeney concentrated his practice in the areas of serious injury, wrongful death, construction and commercial litigation. In 2012, Mr. Sweeney became Deputy City Attorney for the City of Palm Bay, where he is in charge of Risk Management/Tort Litigation. He is is board certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar and is AV Preeminent Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He has also briefed and argued several appeals, in both the Fourth and Fifth District Courts of Appeals for Florida. Mr. Sweeney is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of Florida as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Florida, the Middle District of Florida and the Southern District of Florida.
