I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, although I was raised in the Midwest, mostly in Iowa. I attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, on scholarship, and graduated in 1990. For all four years of college, I worked as a gymnastics instructor at a private gym in Omaha, and I loved it. I was also very involved in extracurricular activities including a season on the Crew Team, the Peer Advocate Committee, and the Financial Management Association Honor Society.
Becoming a lawyer was always my plan, and my parents suggested getting some work experience before going to law school. So, I went to work in the banking industry for 5 years. In my early 20s, I was managing branches of a bank, and working my way up the corporate ladder. It was not easy to leave that security, but I knew that I wanted to be a lawyer. So, in January 1995, I resigned my position at the bank.
While I was waiting for law school to begin in the fall of 1995, I kept busy by working at a plant nursery and waiting tables at night. Having been an avid high school swimmer, I joined the Masters Swim Program, and enjoyed an active spring and summer.
University of Nebraska College of Law was a dream come true. I loved the classes, the faculty, the curriculum, and the students. While I had always been a football fan, it was at Nebraska that I became a football fanatic. I am still ever-loyal and dedicated to my Huskers!
In October of my third year of law school, I made a choice that I wanted to live in Albuquerque after graduation. I applied to several law firms in Albuquerque, where I was born and where my extended family has always lived, and was blessed to find a wonderful job there. I moved immediately after graduating law school in 1998.
In 2002, I met my now-husband, who was in the military, which is how I landed in Navarre, Florida. My husband was stationed at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base, and we chose to live in the nearby small town of Navarre.
I love living near the beach, and I spend at least a few hours enjoying it every weekend. I love to ride my bike, jog, and swim, and I am helplessly devoted to animals, particularly my dogs. My husband and I are actively involved in our church, and do as much volunteer work as possible.
My passion in the law revolves around litigation. Not every case needs to be litigated, but avoiding it, preparing for it, prosecuting it, defending it, and even working the appeal of a case fascinates and energizes me. Litigation is usually not good for my clients, and can be very expensive and time consuming, so I work hard to balance the interests of my clients with my passion for litigation.
I love to solve problems and help people.

Most disputes can be settled without litigation. But it can be more difficult to settle disputes unless you have an attorney who can handle the case all the way to litigation and trial. I handle most types of civil disputes, from pre-litigation through litigation, trial, and appeal, if necessary. From contract disputes, to disputes between neighbors or businesses, to construction defect cases, to landlord-tenant issues, I handle most types of civil disputes and litigation.
I handle all aspects of construction litigation, including contracts, mechanics' liens, contract disputes, lien foreclosures, subcontractor disputes, construction defects, water intrusion, and more. From negotiation to pre-litigation to lawsuit to trial, I handle these cases from beginning to end.
Most relationships, both personal and business, involve contracts. I teach one section of the undergraduate Contracts class at the University of West Florida, and I advise my students and my clients that spending some money on a lawyer to draft a good contract can save you a lot of money, time, and stress of litigation later. I draft contracts for business, partnerships, joint ventures, purchases and sales, and for many other situations. I also handle contract disputes or litigation.
Sometimes cases involve fraud, as well as breach of contract, civil theft, construction defects, or other causes of action. Fraud can occur in real estate transactions, partnerships, business relationships, and almost any other dispute or litigation. When I handle breach of contract cases, constructions defects, or other disputes for my clients, I will also handle any aspects of the case that involve fraud.
When I began practicing law, I handled mostly personal injury cases that included nursing home cases, tobacco and Fen-phen cases, car accidents, and other personal injury cases. I still handle some serious personal injury cases, and have also handled some cases to defend drivers/
