Ying “Laura” Gao, Esq. is an attorney at Hemness Faller Elder Law with a focus on Wills, Trusts, Probate and Guardianship.
Ms. Gao is a member of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section (“RPPTL”) of the Florida Bar. Ms. Gao currently serves as the
secretary of the Estate and Trust Tax Planning Committee of the RPPTL Section. Ms. Gao is also a member of the Elder Law Section
(“ELS”) of the Florida Bar and a member of the Guardianship Committee.
Ms. Gao has been elected to the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Tampa Bay Board (2019-2022) and was recently appointed by Dean
Michèle Alexandre to the Stetson Law Alumni Association Board (2021-2023).

I immigrated to the US from China in 2008, where I was a brand manager for Gitanjali Group (#1diamond group in India and #7 worldwide) and launched their first Chinese brand in Shanghai. I enjoyed my adventure in the States where I became an FAA-certified commercial and instrument rated pilot, bare-boat chartering qualified sailor, and an open-water scuba diver. I even got to participate in one of the oldest air races in the US, the Air Race Classic 2010, with my amazing teammates Terry Carbonell and Ellen Herr (1st Place) and a regional fun race, Florida Sunshine Derby 2011, with my teammate Matt Wallis (1st Place). I am an avid advocate for female piloting. While I am already an FAA-certified advanced ground instructor, I hope one day I could get my certified flight instructor license.
