National Taxpayer Assistance

  • IRS Offers Free Tax Help
    IRS News Release providing an overview of free services for taxpayers and links to more information.
  • Taxpayer Advocate Service (IRS.gov)
    Free, independent, and confidential tax assistance to taxpayers unable to resolve their IRS tax problems through normal channels or individuals experiencing a hardship. (1-877-777-4778).
  • Intuit/TurboTax Tax Freedom Project
    Offers free online tax preparation and electronic filing to Americans and their families who meet annual eligibility requirements announced at the beginning of each tax season.
  • America Pledge Offer (TaxSlayer.com)
    Allows taxpayers who meet certain income or other eligibility requirements (e.g., on active military duty) to file both state and federal tax returns for free via their web-based software.
  • U.S. Armed Forces Tax Information (IRS.gov)
    Tax laws provide some special benefits for active members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including those serving in combat zones.
  • 60 Plus Association
    A non-partisan seniors advocacy group with a "free enterprise, less government, less taxes" approach to seniors' issues. 60 Plus has set ending the "death" tax and Saving Social Security for the young as its top priorities.
  • AARP Tax-Aide Service
    A volunteer-run, free tax-preparation and assistance service offered to low- and middle-income taxpayers with special attention to those age 60 and older. Our volunteers are trained and IRS-certified to understand individual federal-tax issues (1-888-AARP-NOW)
