How do I pitch this intellectual property?

I have an intellectual property in the form of a tool that is going to solve a serious problem on the field in American football and revolutionize the way the game is played.

I want a specific NCAA team to test it under a licensing agreement that says they owe me nothing if it doesn't work, and they owe me a substantial one-time fee for unlimited use if it does.

The problem: I have no professional experience in football, and it will be difficult for me to get an audience with the athletic department at any college. After all, no one in the history of football has ever been able to solve this problem, including today's multi-million-dollar coaches; what makes me think I can?

So, in order to get it in the door, I want to pitch it to a private multi-billionaire who has a passion and obsession for doing whatever it takes to put this particular team at the top of the football food chain. He could walk the idea right into the athletic director's office.

Should I have an attorney approach him, or should I do it myself?

Should it be casual, or should it be legal---non-disclosure agreement, etc.?

There is a company based in California (manufacturer is in China) that distributes MP3 players with media pre-recorded hypnotherapy media files and wants unlimited and exclusive rights to my work in spanish. Basically, they want to use one of my master copy CD's is Spanish to be loaded on these MP3's going out to the market. What should I do? How do I price that work?

Cease and desist letter.

I happened to sell one jersey on ebay that the Adidas group says is fake. They sent a cease and desist letter demanding that pay them $450 and all my merchandise as well as stating that I cannot sell their jersey on ebay again and that I have to tell them who my supplier was. My wife sent a letter out of fear to them saying that we will comply and then called them letting them know how many jerseys I have. She asked them if we don't comply what would happen? They said they will take legal action against us and make us pay their legal fees. I on the other hand think this outrageous. Will this law firm go ahead with legal procedings against me if I don't comply? Eventhough I sold only one jersey? I don't want to relinquish my merchandise to them even if I never sell them again. Please any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

My wife and I are co-producers of a recording project currently underway. My wife has a history as a successful artist in the Philippines (multiple number one hits) from the mid-80's thru the mid 90's. We are currently collaborating with composers in Nashville, arrangers in Manila, etc. etc. We have been getting diiferent advice from many different people regarding publishing rights, royalties, etc., etc.

Is there someone we can talk with to help us understand what we should do to prepare for the on-line sales (and Philippine distribution) once the project gets completed?

Last year I wrote a script that I was intending to make into an independent short film. During Thanksgiving of 2006 I asked a friend of the family, an English teacher, to proof read my script. Last week I found out that this person wrote a copy of my script and then had it copyrighted with the Library of Congress. Now if I make my film they will sue me for copyright infringement or make me pay them royalties. What can I do to get the copyright to my script back? I mailed myself a copy of my script before this happened, can I use that as proof that the script is mine?

The developer is telling me he thinks the website will work and is giving me a better price but at the expense of him have full exclusive rights to the script. Does a sealed letter to oneself which contains an assertion about a future event prove, in a court of law, following the occurrence of the event, that the writer had prior knowledge of it? EXAMPLE:

A contestant on a quiz show in the 1960's wrote himself a letter which contained the answers to the questions he would be asked on a future show. I don't know if the letter was submitted as evidence but there was a congressional investigation and the show's producers resigned. One of the contestants (Charles

Van Doren) was a professor at Columbia U. and was forced to resign. He claimed that the letter proved nothing. Another contestant who was told the answers in advance was Herb Stempfel of Queens, N.Y. This actually happened, and a movie titled ''Quiz Show'', was made about it. I'm interested in this question because I want to apply the same method to prove my future claim (should it be needed) of intellectual priority. I have developed a framework for an information technology project auditing service and documented it. I've created a proposal from that documentation, aimed at a major media company, that has my company copyright mark on the front cover and on every page. The proposal has charts and tables that were marked with my company copyright mark as well.

I recently did consulting for this media company through a recruiting company and so had a non-compete and could not directly engage with the media company. I agreed to have the recruiting company submit my proposal under their relationship with the media company and promoting myself as the consultant to deliver this auditing service. This happened quickly and there was no written agreement between us. I did mention many times in emails that this proposal was my intellectual property and I wanted to preserve it.

Today the recruiting company submitted my proposal document and replaced every copyright mark of my company with their company. Did this recruiting company just steal my project audit service idea for their own? I want to get this consulting job with the media company. What can I do to retain my rights to the idea going forward?

I've read on several places that anything published prior to 1923 is in the public domain.

My small publishing company is planning to bring back to print several books from the late 1800s and early 1900s, but we wanted to make sure that there aren't any strings attached to that pre-1923 bit. I wanted to find an expert on copyright law who could give me an answer that would give me confidence to move forward with these projects.
