University names are often trademarked. Is it still a violation of trademark if the name is altered? For instance, instead of ''San Jose State University'' could one use ''University of San Jose State''? Or instead of ''The Ohio State University'' use ''Ohio State University''?

My nonprofit organization produces free audio compilations of magazine articles for blind subscribers, recorded in a ''specialized format'' (4-track tapes). Thus we need not seek permission from copyright holders of the published written material we reproduce (Chaffee Amendment, H.R. 3754). However, we plan to make our audio magazine downloadable from the Web in MP3 format. If we assign passwords to our blind subscribers and/or require them to click a box stating they are blind, does that satisfy Chaffee and allow us to avoid seeking permission from copyright holders?

I am a computer programmer who wrote a program at my current job that is used entirely within my company. There are other companies that are not competitors that are interesed in buying this program. I asked my Cheif Information Officer if I would be able to re-write the program at home, starting entirely from scratch on my own time and with my own computer, and sell it. He told me I would not be able to do so because it is intellectual property of the company I work for. Is this correct? Isn't the intellectual property the program and the code that makes up the program? The only form I have signed states that anything I create on my company's equipment and/or on my company's time is property of my company. Thanks for your help!

Hello. My friend and I are starting a calendar/photography business. We want to dress up dogs etc... to mimic famous celebrities in the photos. Ex. (have dog dressed similar to charactor Princess Leia in Star Wars and have the caption say ''May the bark be WOOF you'' which makes fun of the Star Wars cliche ''May the force be with you''?

Is there a way to sell a cd with this info on it so others can ultimately download the info to their phones. Sellers claim they are not infinging on any law breaking. Thank you.

I purchased mystery boxes at a default storage sale which contained personal photos of a celebrity. I would like to sell these photo albums on eBay but worry about Intellectual Property infringement. I know I own them, but can I post copies of the pictures on my auctions? I do not know who took the pictures, but I do know this is a well known celebrity.

I am being threatened by HBO to go to court.

I purchased a domain name, www,sopranosfamily,com, from godaddy,com. I contacted HBO to purchase the domain from me and now they want me to sign over the rights of the domain to them or they will take me to court. What do I do? I need a lawyer and some advice.
