Right now I work for a company in Florida that works along side the US military fixing helicopters. I and a few others have been accused of some faulty maintenane practices which we know are not true but an investigation has been started. The problem is I have another job that starts in 2 weeks out of state. Can I get in legal trouble by just quiting?

Pilot license

Under strict new security aviation laws you are to prove citizenship with official birth cert or a current passport before you may do private pilot training. My birth cert has a different name than that I have used my whole life (father unofficially changed name, unknown reason, both parents now deceased). So, I can't provide an official birth cert (with that different name) or apply for a passport without proof of birth under my present name. How can i fix this mess? Thanks for your reply.

Can I obtain a private pilots license with a DUI in my past. I have 2. I in 1996, and 1 in 2000. Since then I have had no trouble with the law as I have been sober since.

attorney's bridge of contract

My attorney sent me a bill for $12,000. I had no idea I owed him this amount. The contract we signed clearly states that ''Lawfirm will notify client whenever the remaining balance of any deposit applied to attorney's fees incurred by Client, is less than $1,000 or less. Within 10 days after each notification is mailed, Client will pay to Lawfirm an additional deposit in the same amount as the initial one ($8,500). I received a bill from him on 1/8/08 for $1,200. A week later I received a correction of my balance of $12,000.

luggage theft

Last August my sister flew on Iberia Airlines from Miami via Madrid to Nice, France. When she opened her suitcase she discovered that certain items were missing.

She called Iberia who asked her to file a police report and other documents, which she did.

She has now received a letter from Iberia stating that they are sorry they cannot help her since her luggage was not damaged and there were no visible signs of unlawful entry, so to speak.

The catch is that in Miami, passengers are not allowed to lock their suitcases (because of terrorism laws). So all suitcases are vulnerable to being opened and having their items removed by any luggage handlers without any damage. They can open any suitcase easily and take whatever they want.

Does my sister have any recourse? Her home insurance deductible is larger than the amount she can claim for, so it makes no sense to deal with home insurance.

Shouldn't Iberia compensate my sister?

name on google in reference to a law suit

I found my name and address on google. It was pertaining to a law suit. I think. I don't understand the

jargon. I believe that a customer sued United airlines and named me in the suit. But I haven't worked for United in over 2 years. They haven't contacted me,but I'm afraid of inaction. I really want my info off the internet. They can leave my name just not the address. Should I contact United Airlines legal dept. or Google or both to resovle this. It says- UAL Retained Claims... Claims for attorney fees, court costs and other counterclaims related to customer service ... its on some Document with several Company's that don't relate to United. Flight attendants are sued a lot, should I retain a lawyer? and why?

we live in MN and was bought into a aviation case as a third party in ND. The defendant made some kind of settlement and now the plaintiff wants to make us the number 1 defendant. The work we done was in MN can they just make a motion or is there a way we can make them start all over in MN where we live and the work was done?

Forced to pay for fuel estimate

I lease an aircraft to a training operation, In the original contract I am allowed to use the aircraft for the fuel that it uses per hour, I have authorized two other people to use the aircraft under the ''owner usage for fuel'' part of the contract. I have been informed that the owner of the operation has put forth a new policy that rather than the fuel that was actually consumed for that flight, there is now a fixed figure for fuel usage, even though the aircraft burned 6 gallons per hour they and I will be billed at 8 gallons per hour.... can he enforce this?

Lost Luggage

I had my luggage lost by Amican Airlines, when they found and delivered it, it was over 32 hours since I had arrived at JFK (NY). Besides the refund for the basic clothing that I had to buy, is there any other thing that I can get? I had no clothes what so ever.

I am trying to get compensated for time I spent on the phone, call costs, and any other possible kind of thing that they should be responsable for. What documents do I need besides the receipts?

petty misdemeanors

I got pot posession ticket just shy of 10 years ago that resulted in a small fine to be mailed in. I was not arrested. I am now applying for a position in the FAA and have to answer if I have been convicted in the past 10 years but to omit it if: ''...the record was expunged under Federal or state law.'' I was under the impression that petty misdemeanors were expunged from official records after a period of five years with no further offenses, which is the case. Do I answer yes to be honest as possible, or can I answer no? I don't know if a record of this even exists any longer, if it does I have to be honest and tell them everything. If not I need to be sure it has disappeared.

Kicked off Airplane over a child seat

Recently me, my wife and 3 year old were flying an overnight flight on United. We brought on our carseat for our child, for whom we purchased a seat, United strongly recommends doing so. We were told there needed to be 6 inch clearance or the seat had to be on the window, we placed the seat in the middle as there was more then 6 inches. 1 Stewardess gave us a hard time and got the pilot involved and was being extremely rude. This 6 inch rule doesn't exist as far as i can decipher asking United and checking online. Eventually we decided to check the seat and when the stewardess was again rude in saying i had to deal with the seat i said ''F**king eh'' under my breath, not loud enough for those 2 rows up to hear. Next thing i know the pilot is removing me from the plane, he also then had my wife and child taken off despite the fact they did nothing, if it was about my language. I believe this is age discrimination against my son, this stewardess didn't want a child in her section on an overnight flight. This 6 inch rules doesn't exist, they enforced it and never checked when there was indeed more then 6 inches. Do I have a case and how do I pursue it?

Is it worth it to use a lawyer in order to be compensated by the airline and the cruise line for their neglet in losing and mishandling our luggage and ruining our long planned vacation?

Airlilne embarassment

On a recent flight, a man was accused of threatening a flight attendant. He didn't. Lots of witnesses. Being that this is a serious accusation, i spoke up in his defense. ''he didn't threaten anyone and you are harassing him. can we please have a quiet flight'' Suddenly I am being yelled at and told i am threatening her. A woman then asks her about getting meds from luggage for her epileptic child due to the wait. She is now also accused of threatening. We all get kicked off the plane. No charges are filed but we did have to give a report to police.

Public embarassment and i never made it to my destination.

Is there a suit here? defamation?
