House Fire and Reimbursement for Meals and Lodging
I had a house fire at my home in my kitchen. In my initial meeting with the insurance adjuster he indicated he would reimburse my family for meals, after deducting my normal grocery bills from the total for the week. I submitted bills to them for restaurant meals eaten out together with some grocery bills which included some sandwiches purchased for lunches and other food snack items that I usually buy during the week. The insurance company is now refusing to reimburse me for any grocery bills as they are saying it is over and above my normal and customary charges. I disagree. I believe they are double dipping if they are taking out my normal weekly bills. They also indicate that they will not reimburse me for my lodging until I give my brother's social security number, since he is the one who agreed to put my family up during the time of repairs. They say it is IRS rules and not insurance rules that they provide a 1099 to my brother at the end of the year. Is this valid? Also aren't they double dipping my grocery bills? I purchased snacks, etc. and they still took out my normal grocery bills. Please help me understand their stand on this. They refuse to entertain this any further.

Rear-ended and injured!
I was at a complete stop, waiting to take a left turn, when the car behind me rear-ended me. We exchanged info and then I filed an accident report afterwards at the police station. No one driving by stopped as a witness. My insurance company is telling me that they are waiting for the other party to confirm what happened before ''determining liability''. So basically, I have to pay for a rental and /or may have to pay a deductable for something that was in no way my fault if they can't get a hold of the other driver! Also, I sustained a sprain in my neck, and a lumbar muscle extension in my lower back. As a result, I was sent home from work after half a day (I work with children, so obviously I can't do much when I can't pick things up or bend over!). In addition to getting an opinion on the auto collision, I'd also like to know if I should hire an attorney to try to sue. My insurance company is filing a personal injury claim, but if they do that doesn't that mean that I can't sue? Please help.
auto insurance
All auto insurance companies for whatever reason have higher rates for young males than females..I've never been in an accident or had a ticket and i was wondering if i could sue my insurance company if i found a female with a similar car and driving record as mine who recieved a lower rate based on the fact that she is female..it is known that car insurance companies do this and if thats not sex discrimination i dont know what is...giving me a higher rate because i am a guy is wrong and is highly stereoypical and discriminating..can i take any action?
Insurance Claim
Can a hospital refuse to file a claim with my insurance and refuse to provide me with an itemized statement so that I can file a claim?
Credit Life Insurance
My husband carried credit life insurance on a vehicle he purchased. He recently passed away. The leinholder said they will not pay the vehicle off since the policy was ineffective after he turned 70. However, two insurance payments were made with the loan payment before he passed away. I feel they should pay the vehicle off as I was not informed as to this situation and they accepted two premiums after he turned 70. Their position is that the policy states that at 70 the policy would not longer be in force. Therefore I will have to take over the payment on the vehicle. I am on a very limited income now and will not be able to keep the vehicle if the insurance will not pay. What course of action should I take?
Where can I file suit?
I am a NJ resident; my car was hit
by a driver running a red light. She
is also a NJ resident and the
accident occurred in NJ. She is
covered by an insurance co. located
in PA. After first making a
reasonable offer for my totalled car,
they then said that offer was a
mistake and made a 2nd offer of
less than 20% of the NADA book
value of my car. I think I will have
to sue them; can I file suit in a NJ

Insurance/Drivers License Question - TX
Is it valid for a person to obtain auto insurance without a drivers license? My vehicle was recently hit (while parked) and his insurance company (which happened to be the same as mine) will not fix my vehicle, has cancelled my policy and I have found out that this person has no valid DL but somehow that is legal for him to still have insurance (according to them)???
Long Term Disability Insurance
I have been receiving D. I. payments since 1985. Last year the carrier denied my COL benefits at age 65. I have a 1981 letter from a VP of the carrier that states that all policy holder's COL benefits were extended for life and at 7%.The policy was written/issued in FLA. I no longer in FLA. I appealed their verbal decline and they want to negotiate a present day value of the COL benefits. Their offer was very low based on my estimated life expectency, tax free benefits. The policy does not state anything about litigation or restrictions. Do I need to consult with an attorney in FLA or in the state I presently reside?
Insurance Beneficiaries
My wife, now deseased, was identified in her mother's will to receive 1/3 of two homes (Va & KY).
My wife's sibling paid the insurance and taxes, as he was the executor. The house in Va was considered condemned after the latest tornado and the insurance company paid $30,000 to him.
As the spouse of my wife, how is the $30,000 is to be distributed? Do I have any legal rights to receive a portion of the monies?

auto accident uninsured driver
I was in an auto accident while I was driving a rental car- I would pay any damages for collision out of my own pocket- I do not drive the car that is in my name- that car is insured my wife's name. The accident had only collision damage- no police report was taken- the other driver kept insisting I produce insurance- to avoid confrontation and possible police activity i called my wife and got her policy#. i was driving north on camino real in carlsbad and just before town and country road i might have nodded off- i am possibly narcoleptic- recently discovered- at any rate my car
drifted to the left of my lane where my right front bumper just tapped the passenger side rear bumper of the other car-her damage did not look that bad- perhaps she was too far to her right? At any rate I am a nj licensed driver- but not sure of the status of that license. the bottom line is the auto car rental company, budget, took $900 OFF my credit card- which I assume paid off their damage- do i have a right to question that amount? mORE IMPORTANTLY- I HAVE NOT SPOKEN TO ANY CLAIMS REPS YET- SEEMS TO ME LEGAL ADVISE WAS IN ORDER- I WANT TO SETTLE WITH THE OTHER DRIVE OUT OF COURT IF IT WAS MY FAULT- I NEED AN ADVOCATE

Libel
I recently discovered a book written by my deceased husband's former business partner. It is described as a business book published in June 2007. The purpose is to describe the failings of the typesetting industry in America and its personal impact on the author. Only part is factual and/or business related. My husband's full name is disclosed. A majority details the author's recollection of events, conversations involving my husband who suffered with alcoholism. Many references are made to his wife and family members -- untrue and cruel. Our names are changed except one ''slip'' where my actual name is printed. Even with fictitious names, I and my family can be easily identified. Confidential, personally tragic events during my husband's battle with alcoholism, the loss of his business and ultimately the loss of his life are revealed. Regarding business-related events, I have documentation to dispute some of the author's claims. More importantly, I and my son have had a rough time recovering from the effects of alcoholism and the sudden death of my husband in June 2003. The shock, set-back, and emotional distress caused by this book is unbearable. Do I have a legal recourse? I would at least ask for a public retraction.
insurace, automobile accident.
I got into an accident in CT this summer. The accident report was in my favor as the car had jumped in front of me and hit the brakes. The driver did not get out of the car until the cops arrived and provided the wrong information to the cops about insurance and other info. His insurance was taking such a long time to get confirmation and payment that I had the work done on my car by my own insurance. I am a single, college student barely making min. wage. I don;t ahve family to support or any other financial stability. The accident caused me so much stress and financial burden. I paid my deductible and now my insurance is taking their sweet time to give it back. They say that the other insurance needs more info from the driver who is supposedly missing or out of reach. The other insurance has accepted liability. Can i take legal action to get more than my deductible?. I am not only in debt, but now have a car that has a crash record and a credit debt as I paid the deductible on credit.
auto Insurance law
can I challenge a decision from my insurance agent that i feel was not fair?
Totaled car
A bad storm hit our system back in August of this year. The storm broke some big limbs from the tree in our front yard. They came down on top of my car and totaled it. I did not have insurance on the car. The car was parked and I was not driving the vehicle. I currently rent the home that I am living in and the tree is in our yard and not on city grounds. I believe that our landlord's property insurance should cover my car. I filed a claim with them and they stated that there is nothing they could do. Please let me know if there is something I can do.
No Insurance
