Can an attorney fire the client

If an attorney takes a case on contingency can he later tell the client that he no longer will represent the client?

Relative's Medical Records

My stepfather is being treated for

multiple myeloma but he is

deteriorating very quickly. His

medical team is saying they are

almost out of ideas and soon they will

send him to hospice. I would like

copies of all his medical records, he is

very unresponsive so I can't ask him

to sign a release. I'm not convinced

the treatment team made any

mistakes but for weeks the

professionals in different

fields(oncology v.s. infectious disease

v.s. neurology) couldn't agree on a

treatment course. Do I have legal

rights to request copies of his medical

records?

can a case where a lawyer screws up and never contacts me about the stats of the case and then he gets disbared for his actions be reopened, or charges brought up in a new case involving a defective commercial vehicle. i lost my truck, business, business credit, personal credit, marrage, and children to a large extent due to this lawyers actions. cant find anyone who can help, thanks

Attorney didn't pay

My daughter was in an accident on 11/05 we obtained an attorney.She was awarded a settlement in 12/06. Today she got a bill for a splint that the orthopedic doctor gave her. The bill came from a collection agencey. Recently she also found that the ambulence bill didn't get paid upon reguest and that it's on her credit report.All bills from the accident were given to the attorney. Those bills were supposed to be paid out of her settlement. What can she do?

i paid but haventgotten anything

its been over a year since my quincea~nera and i had a problem with the woman who made my video and the pictures were of terrible quiality. she had changed her number and moved out of the place were she used to be and i have no way to locate her. my question is can i file a small claims even though i have no way to reach her?

Privacy and confidentiality

I run a business and do business with an advertising company in order to generate business. During a negotiation of renewal, I mentioned that I may not be able to renew our ad. The rep for the ad company began to discuss different size ads and different ad prices. I again mentioned that it may not happen, she asked why and said let's see what we can do. Next thing you know, a customer comes in asking the manager all these questions and then starts telling her all my personal financial business. Turns out that he does business with the same ad company and the same rep. My staff overheard and began to worry, questioning if they should begin to look for another job. Other customers overheard and were wondering if they should look for another place to do business because they did not want to be stuck with last minute searches.

Anyway, this is the base of the story. Can anyone tell me what to do, where to go or even what type of attorney I can get to help me out. When she asked me about my financial situation, it was to help me clear up an existing bill with the company and be able to begin a new ad. I had no idea that she wanted the information to try to hurt my business.

Is this fraud legal

A non party witness reallised that deffinatelly he will be exposed as a felon for bribing my key witness with 4.5 years of free rent (on records) and this changed the outcome of my law suit against him. He re-hired his previous attorney to rig my case financially since they knew if they wasted all of my money I won't be able to sue an attorney,period. They engaged me and my attorney in a hand-to-hand combat close for two years, by denying, dissobeing, obstructing and refusing to produce records or witnesses we needed for to prove our case. After I run out of money I went alone in the court room to tell the judge what happen to me. After realizing I was there without an expert witness and attorney the judge dismissed my case outright by not allowing me to state my case. Neither the defendant nor the jury were present, what a country.

The non-party witness spent twice as much money on the law suit where he wasn't the defendant that the deffendent himself Do I have any recorces against the non-party witness or the presiding judge, or is the saying: no money means no justice in this country.

Can Lawyer Drop Client

Hello,

The lawyer handling my case told me in the beginning, that if I dont like the settlement offer, we will goto trial.

However, now that I already hired him and its been 2 years, we are at the settlement stage and the lawyer is telling me if I dont agree with the settlement he likes, then I should find another lawyer.

The Question: Can my lawyer legally drop me for this? And is the lawyer allowed to say, ''If you dont like their settlement offer, then we will goto bat for you'' and 2 years into the case, find out it was a total lie.

I bought an English Bulldog for my son. On its 15th week routine visit the Vet. diagnosed this pup with Luxating Patella. A second opinion by a specilist diagnosis confirmed grade 3 stage. Recommends surgery. Price tag of $3000 plus. Also stresses not to breed her which we planned on when she became of age. I was to get first pick of the litter. My son and his wife love this pup like a child.. You see my son is a US MARINE that put himself on the volunteer list to go back to Iraq. After returning alive and stuggling with post mental stress disorder in every day issues, as a mother I tried everything possible to get him off the list. So he agreed to me buying him a English Bulldog pup costing $2000. Is the breeder obligated to re-emburse the cost and help with surgery cost without taking this pup back?

I am a salaried employee (health care Director) who is being harrassed due to what I believe is age discrimination. I am not the only one. favoritism, isolation are some of the tactics.

billing disputes

Is is customary for a lawyer to charge clients if they have questions regarding their bill? This does not seem fair to me. I am disputing my mother's litigation bill. Lawyer left the firm after the end of the case. She did not inform us and the firm never informed us. We did not receive the closing binder until 3 months after the case and there were (3) pieces of paper in it.

We have a cook who I terminated 7-8-07. The reason was he put a SUPER HOT Sauce on a customers Po-Boy (sandwich). The act itself was in retaliation towards a customer who made a unfavorable remark to his girlfriend, who also is employed here as waitstaff. It was not her table of concern, but he found out about the comment, and retaliated. This of course put my personal business in a rather bad liability position. The party was given a 15% discount on their entire bill, and a no charge on the tainted food. Upon leaving the restaurant they decided that they would also short the final bill by $109.00 because of the event. I was not present for this event, but my manager on duty felt it better not to push the issue. My question is am I within my legal right to withhold the unpaid portion of the bill not paid from terminated employees final check?

I received a call at work from an attorney saying their client was going to sue me over a car accident which I have no knowledge of. Is it normal for an attorney to call the other party at their place of business and threaten them or is this harassment.......this is all very new to me?

Responsibility to disclose fee sharing

My daughter got bit by a dog. Her mother, my wife, is talking to her brother who is a lawyer about our legal options. Specifically, should we sue, not sue, take an offered sum to cover medical expenses, etc. My wife's brother insists that we need to ''be taken care of by a lawyer''. He insists that he will find the ''right'' lawyer and refers us to one.

This lawyer, after discussing the case with us, explains to us that the referring lawyer, my wife's brother, is entitled to a commission for making the referral.

A few years later, the case is settled and the brother takes his cut of the commission. When asked by his sister ''how could you do this?'' he replies that his conduct was totally appropriate.

Was his conduct totally appropriate, as he characterized it?

Does he have a legal or ethical responsibility to disclose to us that as soon as he referred us to another lawyer he had a financial interest in the process or was this responsibility totally discharged by the second lawyer?

Graduation party at Ramada Inn

I have an original signed contract that shows an agreement from the hotel that I will have a grad. party, that they will have an announcement on their Marque congratulating the graduate and from what college. They now have new owners. They are telling me now that they will not put up anything personal. We have made changes on the amounts of food and have adjusted what kinds of drinks. Did my adjustments void this contract, because they are claiming that our agreement was only verbal about the marque. So I found the contract and faxed it to them today. What do you think my legal rights are?

Using info from a message board

I frequent a horse message board website. There was a lady that posted updates in text and pictures everyday regarding her sick horse and its recovery from West Nile Virus, something relatively rare. I would like to write a book about the story and have enough info from the posts to do so. Do I have to get her permission to use the info she has posted on a public forum?
