The U.S. State Department announced that the family 2A category (spouses and unmarried children of lawful permanent residents) will become current for the first time in many years.
On June 26, the USCIS announced that even though Worldwide Family 2A is backlogged on the Dates of Filing Chart, since the Worldwide Family 2A is current on the Final Action Dates Chart, spouses and unmarried minor children of green card holders can file applications for adjustment of status in July if they are otherwise eligible. If the green card holder has yet to file an I-130 visa petition, the I-130 and the I-485 can be submitted simultaneously.
For the past few years, the family 2A category has been backlogged 18-24 months, so this may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
This is great news for green card holders who have petitioned, or want to petition, their spouses and children. If your spouse and children are present in the U.S., they will be able to file applications for adjustment of status (form I-485) starting on July 1, 2019. This packet should include an application for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and an Advance Parole (AP) international travel document.
This is one of the greatest moments in immigration history for permanent residents.

Charged with underage drinking, but no evidence
I was at a tailgate for a football game with a lot of people. Myself and two of my friends were standing by a truck with one of their fathers just talking and eating hotdogs when a couple ABC officers came up and took our drinks. She asked what i was drinking and i told her that i thought it was rum and coke. She then poured the drink out without taking a sample (they took a sample of one of my friends drink). Is her word enough to be convicted or should she have taken a sample before pouring the drink out? I am 20 years old.
When charged (as an 18 year old) with serving alcohol without checking an ID it is classified as a misdemeanor in Colorado. There was a sting operation at a local restaurant, and a friend of mine was charged with a misdemeanor for this reason. He was told the charges could only be expunged after the age of 25, is this true? If not, is there any way he can push the charges to be expunged?
These charges will affect his college opportunities, job opportunities and many other things. He had a clean record, and is a top twelfth grader with potential for great college athletics... Is there anything that can be done to lessen his charges or should he just pay the fine?
