I am a partner at Van Riper and Nies. A firm co-owned with Timothy Nies, a military veteran.
I am a near life-long resident of Stuart, Florida, having moved to the Treasure Coast when I was a child. I am an avid boater and enjoy fishing as much as possible.
Prior to law school, I was an investigator with Florida's Department of Children and Families. Here, I investigated allegations of child abuse and neglect. During law school I was selected, based on my school grades and performance, to work as a law clerk for the Florida Supreme Court of Florida, where I researched important issues for Supreme Court Justices.
After law school, where I graduated at the top of my class, I was selected as an Assistant State Attorney for the 19th Judicial Circuit of Florida. Here, I prosecuted and tried serious felony cases.
For the past couple years, I have been practicing in private practice criminal defense. A couple months ago, I joined up with my cousin, Timothy Nies, an experienced personal injury and civil litigation attorney. Our firm now helps those with serious injuries due to the fault of others, as well as those charged with crimes. We also handle other litigation matters as we both are experienced trial attorneys.
Being that my partner is a military veteran, and I have spent years as a public servant for the State of Florida, as both a DCF investigator and a prosecutor, we offer significant discounted legal fees to honorably discharged military veteran, active-duty military, law enforcement officers and firefighters.

Christian Van Riper is a former DCF investigator and former Prosecutor. I have handled countless criminal law cases, both a Prosecutor and as a criminal defense attorney. I have unique insight into how prosecutors evaluate and ultimately try criminal cases. I practice in both state and federal criminal defense in such areas as DUI, violent crimes, violations of probation, drug charges, assaults, domestic violence, sexual battery, juvenile delinquency, and other felonies and misdemeanors.
