Facing Ten years in prison, I retained David Casals

I came to Mr. Casals with a highly complex criminal legal matter which required a working knowledge of a diverse cross-section of legal topics, including medical malpractice, family law, guardianship, and criminal defense.

David proved to be a master tactician who possessed the legal knowledge required to bring my case to a successful resolution. Facing ten years in prison, the prosecutor would not come down from a 3 year prison term as a plea. I had always maintained that there was not even a prima facie case against me under the statute as alleged. (As far as I can see, no one has ever been indicted on that felony for conduct limited to what I'm alleged to have done.)

However, the fact remained that the complex case required subpoenaing for exonerating discovery and continuing to negotiate with the ever-increasing exonerating discovery to support that negotiation. Initially, the plea offer still contained a felony, which I was not willing to plea to since my position is that in no way did I commit any felony.

David provided relentless and highly aggressive representation to pursue justice in my defense. In the end, facing ten years in prison, I agreed to plead guilty to only class two misdemeanors and serve six months of probation, with credit for time served.

We had set the case for trial and I have no doubt that Mr. Casals could have prevailed at trial if necessary. His diligent and exhaustive work on my behalf has allowed me to retain bright employment prospects, my right to vote, and the ability to be a part of my daughter's life.

My case was bizarre and complex. If Attorney Casals could achieve this favorable outcome in my bizarre and complex case, I would recommend him to anyone who seeks aggressive and dedicated legal representation, no matter how complex or daunting the legal matter may be. Casals is exceptional.

Even after the conclusion of the case, he ensured probation stayed strictly within the confines of the order, since they had attempted to take liberty to lengthen my probation term and add conditions not contained in the plea agreement I entered into.

I received spectacular representation, from motion writing, to strategy, to depositions, to subpoenas for exonerating documents. Relieving prior counsel of duties and hiring Mr. Casals was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
