Elder abuse
Ms. Curran was enormously informed about the issues in a very complicated case that involved three families suing an elder care facility -- particularly its executive director and her boss (the veep of a large real estate holding and developing company) -- for appalling abuse of our loved ones. In my case it was my 92-year-old mother in late stage Alzheimer's whom the ED dumped -- not once, but twice -- into the ER basically to get rid of me and my bothersome patient advocate activities. The other two families had other issues as well. Felicia was unwavering in her endeavor to unearth the truth, document it and present it to a judge who was not particularly favorable to the plaintiffs. She slogged through it all, winning time and again with her facts and reasoned arguments. Ultimately the case was settled out of court with a huge judgement against the defendants. The parent company declared bankruptcy (not only because of the judgement but because, in part, of the collapse of real estate in the U.S.) Still, the ED and her boss lost their jobs -- my real interest in the case. I don't know of her expertise in other areas but in elder abuse, she's the go-to guy.
