My greatest service to and challenges of assisting my clients arise in my efforts to enable average individuals and small business owners find an economical and satisfactory resolution to legal problems that can create havoc to their plans to enjoy life and family. I am prouder when I have successfully acheived this objective than when I have successfully represented clients with greater financial ability to protect their legal interests, even though both objectives have been part of almost fourty years of practicing law. Growing up in a family with several small businesses, I learned, and enjoyed and was headed towards a career in business, after graduating college with majors in Accounting, Finance and Economics. I put those opportunities aside, because I never forgot the lessons I learned watching how legal issues could disrupt and alter my parent's business and personal affairs. There were so many times that they didn't pursue legal rights, because the cost and delay of legal proceedings seemed overwhelming. I have spent the majority of my career working on creative solutions around those problems. My view of the lawyer's role in society and our court system is to make our system of law and the rules that hold our country together work for all, not just those who can afford the most expensive legal services. It is a difficult task, but the joy and satisfaction of clients I have helped over the decades has always been worth more than those moments when a high-profile case or an award has brought my work into public recognition.
