Born and raised in Tampa, I left in 1987 to attend Boston University. From Boston I was commissioned an Officer in the United States Marine Corps where I rose to the rank of Captain, responsible for a Company of 250 Marines and about 50 Amphibious Assault Vehicles. After the Marine Corps I became the Operations Director of Brownstone Gallery Ltd in New York, manufacturing, importing and distribution table linens. I left that job to go to law school.
