Expert Divorce Attorney

After interviewing three attorneys, I decided to hire Scott Smiley to represent me in my divorce case after a marriage of 30 years. The discovery process required a lot of research and information gathering from me. My Mother died during this period, which required me to delay delivery of the discovery materials to Scott's office. He and his assistant, Colleen, were very kind, understanding, and patient. I found this very helpful. On the day before my mediation, Scott and I sat in his office where Scott set my mind at ease by explaining my options, and what to expect during the mediation, which reduced the stress and uncertainty that had been keeping me awake at night. During the actual mediation process is where Scott's professional prowess became obvious. He was there not only to represent me, but also mainly to protect my interests and rights. I felt like I was with a friend who acted as a guardian. The opposing attorney is rumoured to be a good attorney. However from my experience, I will say this: If lawyering were horse racing, I'd cast my bet on Smiley to win every time. (I almost feel sorry for the opposing side.) If you are looking for a divorce attorney to represent you, I highly recommend you hire Scott Smiley, before your future ex does.

Amazing man

Tough and knowledgeable

When my previous divorce attorney retired, I was referred to Mr. Smiley based on his knowledge of family law and his ability in court. During my initial consultation, Mr. Smiley didn't sell me a story and told it to me straight, so I hired him immediately. Throughout my contentious journey, Mr. Smiley fought very hard to protect my children and my rights, always being fair and keeping my family in mind. His presence and command in court are among the best, exuding confidence with no hint of egotism. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't feel grateful to have Mr. Smiley on my team.

Very Knowledgable, Professional and Thorough

I retained Scott last year to handle a modification of support that I am paying to my contentious and extremely uncooperative ex-spouse. This has been a long and drawn out case due to some extenuating circumstances regarding my ex's health and relocation out of the state. Smart, compassionate and ethical...

Mr. Smiley is an extremely smart, compassionate and ethical lawyer. Not only does Mr. Smiley fully understand family law, he is a Southern Gentlemen that understands all the players in Tallahassee (judges, opposing lawyers, etc.) and how to communicate with his clients – which is often not easy given the emotion that is typically present in his clients due to nature of family law cases. Furthermore Mr. Smiley truly cares about his clients – even after his representation of me ended we occasionally send emails to check in on each other.

OUTSTANDING ATTORNEY

Scott Smiley has been my attorney now on 2 separate, but related issues, over the course of the past 6 years. I honestly would not trust my case with any other attorney. I emphatically endorse Mr. Smiley. I have been opposing counsel in Legal Aid matters which were complex and unpleasant. I don't know if I've ever endorsed former opposing counsel. Following our unfortunate, mutual case; I send my friends to Smiley due to a significant level of trust and respect which he has EARNED. I have never heard a bad word about Mr. Smiley even though he practices family law which is notoriously acrimonious. He is beyond "well respected" by family division practitioners and judges in Tallahassee. He's a pro and a nice guy as well.
