I hired Mr. Stedeford for a divorce w/custody issues. To his credit, Mr. Stedeford knows the law, is familiar with the judges and the legal system. When we did go to court on a motion, the result was always positive.
To his discredit, every time I met with him I had to lay the case out from the very beginning. He was not timely in answering calls, email, etc. He failed to file motions that cost me thousands of dollars. One day he finally told me he would not be handling my case anymore. He was just, "tired". This was in the middle of a motion I THOUGHT he'd filed. Turned out he failed to file a motion AGAIN. He chose instead to exit stage left by throwing in the towel. I didn't get notice of this until I repeatedly tried reaching him over the phone. This was after numerous emails went unanswered.
I stuck with him because of the success I had when we went into court. The downside is the length of time it took. Initially I thought it was the court system but I now know a large part was also due to the lack of effort/negligence on his part.
I have mixed feeling in submitting this review. Mr. Stedeford was always a true gentleman and I'm really disheartened to be of the opinion that I currently am. At one time, I felt like he really cared about me and my case. I am really disappointed in the overall outcome of my liaison with him.

This man sold me down the river after I hired him for a child custody case 13 years ago. Even though that is a decade plus ago, I remember this awful nightmarish experience with this arrogant, grouchy, gruff, superior and bloated human being. His puffiness was his own ego. Mommy must have told little Walter how wonderful he was up until her last breath. Mommy needed to give him a swift kick in the pants----and I should have never retained him.
