I contacted the offices of Warren Hope Dawson & Associates on 2/1/17 regarding a civil rights violation in addition to Florida statute 839.19(Offenses by Public Officers and Employees). The representative that I spoke with over the phone stated that their office was familiar with the statute and handles these types of cases, that I could receive a consultation for $100, and to be sure to bring all of my documentation. I showed up for my appointment at 11:30am on 2/2/17 and he was eating breakfast. I asked if it was a bad time and he said no and continued eating as we consulted in his office. I had to leave and come back with cash since his office does not accept card payments. I asked if he was familiar with the statute and he didn't know what I was talking about. I asked him if he could review my information(he did not) and if he could pull up the statute in one of the many legal books located throughout his office but he did not know where to start. I pulled the statute up on my phone and showed it to him. He seemed clueless and then asked to see my phone for himself. He took my phone, read the statute, and then stated that he did not handle these types of cases and that I should just drop it. I was flabbergasted...I started to pack up my things and stated that I would find someone else. At that point, he became belligerent and started cursing(!!) and insisted that I should drop the entire issue. I asked him to return my phone(he did) and left his office. I would later discover that he has prior working history with the agency that I had a grievance with. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the Florida State Bar and will continue to pursue options to get my money back. Consult this attorney at your own risk.
