RECOMMENDED ORDER APPEARANCES

For Applicant: James Kay

3261 Southwest 16th Terrace Miami, Florida

There were no protestants

  1. By this application to the Internal Improvement Trust Fund, the City of Miami, Florida seeks a permit so as to authorize the construction of a 72 storm outfall entering the Little River Canal near N.E. 77th Street Miami. Mr. James Kay, Civil Engineer, Department of Public Works, Miami, testified in support of the application.

  2. In conjunction with a highway rebuilding and improvement project the proposed storm sewer for the area involved will conduct the surface runoff water to the discharge point in the Little River Canal. The canal is brackish at this point with a salinity dam to the westward. Sediment from the surface runoff water will be trapped in two siphon structures upstream from the canal and in a large sump manhole just before the surface water enters the canal. The drainage area involved comprises approximately 64 acres between N.E. 4th Court, N.E. 54th Street and the Little River Canal. In the absence of opposition, it is sufficient to say the project is required in the public interest and the construction and operation of the Storm Sewer will not adversely affect the ecology of the area involved. It is therefore,

RECOMMENDED that the application of the City of Miami be granted so as to authorize the construction of a 72 storm outfall entering the Little River Canal near 77th Street, Miami, in accordance with the application and plans and specifications attached thereto.

DONE and ORDERED this 24th day of March, 1975.
